Letter from the Recruitment Chair

Dear Potential New Members,

During the rush process, I remember feeling uncertain about the future. I struggled to connect to campus after returning from N.U.in Ireland and living off-campus, and was feeling isolated. I wondered if joining a sorority would give me the things I wanted: community, friendship, and sisterhood. I wanted to get a sign letting me know if I was making the right decision by rushing and pursuing sorority life.

Sigma has given me an incredible community of women who add value to our chapter with their unique talents and personalities. I found my closest friends, some of whom even became my roommates, with whom I could stay up until 3 am laughing or exploring the city. I found a sisterhood full of people who are always there for me. Whether you're wondering about an interesting elective to take, where to get shoes on Newbury Street, or which restaurants are good in the North end, there's always someone in Sigma who can give you advice! Sigma makes the Boston campus, which once felt so large, feel smaller. Waving to Sigmas on campus, finding them in my classes, or running into them in the city are constant reminders of my Sigma family here at Northeastern!

Sigma not only exceeded my hopes for finding friendship but also gave me opportunities that I didn't know I needed. By joining a sorority, you'll get involved in philanthropy and have opportunities to give back nationally and locally. This may look like singing Hannah Montana songs to raise money for children at our Karaoke for Kids event, selling Boba to raise money for Babies, or spending the night with your sisters at Relay for Life. These are just a few ways we give back to our chapter's causes, March of Dimes and the Robbie Page Memorial Fund, and participate in philanthropy events on campus! You'll have leadership opportunities, learn new things about yourself, and may even become a chapter officer one day. You may even find a new passion as you make friends with your sisters, who have all different backgrounds. During your sorority experience, you will grow so much and have a diverse group of women developing alongside and supporting you.

If you're still looking for your sign to rush, this is it. Sigma has become my home away from home, and I cannot wait to meet you all and welcome more additions to our family!

2024 Director of Chapter Growth, Tri Sigma Epsilon Chi

"As I went through the recruitment process, I was nervous and confused, but the conversations I had with the women of Sigma put me at ease. For the first time since coming to Northeastern, I felt like I belonged. This didn’t necessarily come from the fact that I met people just like me: in fact, it was the opposite! I met so many people that all had a variety of majors, life paths, hobbies, interests, and came from all different backgrounds. What unites the members of Epsilon Chi is our commitment to our values and our love and respect for one another. It’s what makes our sisterhood so special."

"Sigma is full of hardworking women who love their community just as much as their sorority; you’ll always find a Sigma wherever you go! Sigma has given me not only the best friendships, but the opportunity to become involved, and make the most of my college years."

-2023 AVP Recruitment Gabby Hylton

Through Tri Sigma I have met countless women who push me to see the world from new perspectives, inspire and challenge me to become the best version of myself. In Sigma you will find women who consistently strive to achieve academic, philanthropic, and personal excellence every day. These women are passionate, confident, driven, ambitious, and full of love.

Throughout the recruitment and sister dating processes I continued to meet more and more members who clearly had a genuine passion for the chapter and for meeting new people. I always felt welcome and loved how all of the members treated each other well as the potential new members. It was pretty easy, and quick, for me to realize that these were the types of people I wanted to surround myself with for the rest of my Northeastern journey."
